A/N: I don't own Inu Yasha, nor do I own 'Around the World' by ATC. Read on Inu Lovers, read on.
The kisses of the sun
Were sweet
I didn't blink
I let it in my eyes
Like an exotic drink
The radio playing songs
That I have never heard I don't know what to say
Oh, not another word

Kagome sat on the beach watching the wave’s crash lazily onto the warm sand before shying back again. A few of her friends were chasing after one another a few yards away, trying to stay away from the salty water while collecting shells for the sand castle they were building. Sango sat next to her, watching the clouds float over head on the warm breeze. The radio blared beside them, on some station that Miroku claimed to be relaxing but energetic at the same time. Nobody really knew the song, but every now and then, they’d catch themselves trying to hum along with it.
“So, what do you think Kagome? Is Inu Yasha ganna finally let you meet his family? Stop being that friend that hides you from everyone else? I mean the rest of us have met them, yet you still don’t know any of them,” Sango said, looking down from the sky to her friend.
Kagome sighed. “I’m not sure, but he said something earlier about having a cook-out at his place. Whenever I ask him about meeting his family, he always tells me that they’re off in some other country or having some business thing going on. I think he thinks they aren’t going to like me,” she admitted.
“I don’t see how they can’t. Everyone falls for you, without even trying. He’s just making up excuses to keep you away from them,” Sango tried to comfort her.
“Well, I’ll be meeting them soon. Whether he likes it or not. I’ve got a trick up my sleeve if he doesn’t invite me to this cook-out. I’ll just ‘show up’ at his place one day just wanting to hang out or something. He can’t keep me away forever,” Kagome confided with a smile.
Sango laughed, stood up and headed over toward their friends, who were placing the final touches on the castle they were building. Kagome turned to watch them and laughed as Miroku groped Sango’s bottom, only to find himself face first in the sand. A crab scuttled over his head.
Inu Yasha cursed loudly at the prone figure. “Damn it Miroku! You almost got the sand castle ruined! Why even bother building it if you’re just going to break it anyway!”
“Leave him alone, Yasha! He’s unconscious. He can’t hear a word you’re saying anyway,” Shippo grumbled.
Night soon fell upon the group. The guys had started up a bon fire on the beach. Kagome had pulled out a guitar from her car while Sango had talked Miroku into grabbing his drums. The two sat around the fire, playing songs while the others sang, drank and danced around, having a good time.
As the night grew longer, the group of people sat quietly around the fire, staring into it, enjoying the peace and quiet. They relished each other’s company. Every now and then someone would whisper something to the group before they soon fell silent once more.
After being friends for so long, they didn’t need that many words to keep each other happy.

Inu Yasha smiled at his friend. “You know, I think this is the first time you’ll meet my family. I think they’ll like you as much as I do.”
Kagome looked over at him from her side of the car. “Well, duh. The only reason you’re letting me finally meet them is ‘cause you heard of what I’d do if you didn’t invite me. You can’t hide me away for ever, Yasha. It isn’t fair.”
“Keh, what ever. Just be happy that we’re going. Dad’s been bothering me about meeting you anyway,” he huffed.
Kagome sighed and shook her head. She turned to look out the window only to realize that they had made it to Inu Yasha’s house. They both climbed out of the car and headed toward the back yard, skipping the house all together. Laughter reached their ears as they rounded the corner.
“Kagome! There you are! We were starting to worry that Inu Yasha wasn’t going to bring you,” Miroku cried upon seeing his two friends.
“Well, I’m here! He couldn’t keep me away even if he tried,” Kagome laughed out.
“My son, who is this beautiful woman you’ve brought home? Surely she’s your girlfriend,” a tall man asked. He looked surprisingly a lot like Inu Yasha, though full demon.
“Dad, this is my friend Kagome. Kagome, my dad, Inu-no. And she’s NOT my girlfriend,” Inu Yasha growled at him.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Inu-no. I’ve heard so much, but haven’t had the chance to meet you,” Kagome said, bowing slightly, a blush on her cheeks.
“Oh, no need for formalities. This is a casual gathering, of friends and family. I think my wife would like to meet you. Just a second.” He turned around and waved towards a shorter woman. She headed over toward them and smiled warmly at the three.
“Who do we have here? I don’t think I’ve met you before,” she asked.
“Izayoi, this is the famous Kagome that our son talks about all the time. Kagome, this is my wife, and Inu Yasha’s mother, Izayoi,” Inu-no replied.
“Oh my! I finally get to meet you. I’ve heard so much. And you’ve seem to have put my son in his place finally. He never listened to anyone before you came around. And he was rude to boot,” Izayoi laughed.
Kagome smiled softly. “I can remember, though I still think he’s rude at times.”
“HEY! I’M STANDING RIGHT HERE, YOU KNOW!” Inu Yasha yelled at the group.
They all laughed at him while Kagome slung her arm around his shoulder. “I’m only kidding. Relax. It’s good for you to just laugh along too.”
Inu Yasha huffed and shrugged out of her arm. “Yeah, whatever. I’m going to talk to Kikyou and Shippo.”
Kagome shrugged. “I think I see Sango and Miroku over there. It’s not looking to good. I think I should break it up before… Oh, never mind. He’s already unconscious.” Kagome sighed and headed over to a red faced Sango.

Inside an empty room
My inspiration flows
Now wait to hear the tune
Around my head it goes
The magic melody
You want to sing with me
Just la la la la la
The music is the key

Kagome found herself in the living room, talking to her mother on her cell phone. It seemed that her brother, Souta, had made it onto the kendo team. She smiled as her mother said her good-byes and Kagome hung up.
Smiling softly, she started humming softly to herself.
Looking up, she noticed that someone had wondered in. Believing that it was Inu-no, she smiled and stood up from the couch. “Sorry about running off like that, Inu-no. My mother called me,” she apologized.
The man turned around, warm colored eyes showing no emotion. “I am Sesshoumaru, woman. Not my father.”
Kagome gasped. “Sorry. You look so much like him from the back. It was an honest mistake. Forgive me. I’ll just be on my way.” Kagome started heading out of the living room and toward the back of the house to get back to the cook out.
“Who are you, woman?” Sesshoumaru asked.
Kagome turned around. “Oh, I guess I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Kagome, Inu Yasha’s friend.”
“You don’t seem like the others. How can you be that unclothe hanyou’s friend?” he asked her.
Kagome frowned. “Well, I don’t know what you mean by that, but we’ve been friends since middle school. He may be a bit rude and loud, but he’s a big softy on the inside.” She smiled softly at him and shrugged her shoulders. “He may not seem it on the outside, but he is a sweet guy.”
Sesshoumaru frowned. “I don’t care much for him.”
“Oh. Aren’t you his brother?” she asked.
“Half-brother,” he corrected.
“Oh. I see. The whole half-brother syndrome. I used to think that way about my little brother when he was born. Then he started talking and when he said my name for the first time, wow. I just couldn’t hate him anymore. I mean, it’s not his fault he’s not my full brother or anything. My dad died when I was still young. My mother decided that she needed to find someone for me. So I could grow up with a father figure. And then Souta came around. Shortly after he found out that my mom was pregnant, he left.
“That’s why I hated Souta. Because my mother was happy again, even for a short period of time. And then because of him, her heart was broken. Shortly after he started talking and he spoke my name for the first time, I began to realize it wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t even my mothers fault. She was just trying to do what was best for me. It was that guys fault. I couldn’t blame Souta for anything.”
Kagome just sat back down on the couch and looked up at him. “So, are you like that? Hating Inu Yasha for someone else’s innocent actions. Though they may not have been the best for you, the person may have believed that it was the best for both, that person and yourself.”
Sesshoumaru watched the girl with interest. She seemed to have more wisdom then most youki did at her age. Or even at his own age. She couldn’t have been any older then Inu Yasha was.
“How old are you woman?” he asked.
“Oh, I’m 23. Still quite young. Why do you ask?” she wondered.
Sesshoumaru looked her up and down for a moment. “You seem to know a bit for being so young.”
“I’m just an understanding person, I guess. I’ve always been told I was,” Kagome answered with a shrug.
A silence fell between the two for a moment and Kagome had a chance to study the demon in front of her. He was handsome. Just as tall as his father, and even more handsome. No emotion showed on his face, besides the occasional curiosity. She thought that if he smiled that he would leave women breathless.
Sesshoumaru studied her quickly, faintly noting that she was attractive enough to catch his eye. She looked to have the perfect 36-26-36 figure that everyone seemed to want. She wasn’t pale, and her hair was long. But her eyes weren’t the normal brown of the Japanese. They were the unusual sparkling blue. Taking a smell, he noted that she smelled of lilies and lightening storms, with a faint scent of innocence underneath it all.
He didn’t know when, but he had moved closer to the woman before him. But he found himself standing right in front of her. She stood up slowly, not taking her eyes off of him.
“Uhm, I think I should go,” she whispered, pointing toward the hall way. “I’ll… I’ll see you outside, right?” she asked.
Sesshoumaru frowned slightly at her. “Hn.”
Realizing that the demon in front of her didn’t seem to like the idea of her leaving, she shrugged. “I could stay here and keep you company. It’s not like many people are missing me right now.”
Before she could say anything else, Sesshoumaru leaned down, his lips meeting hers. The sound of music filled her head at the sensation.

And now the night is gone
Still it goes on and on
So deep inside of me
I long to set it free
I don't know what to do
Just can't explain to you
I don't know what to say
Oh, not another word

Kagome sat next to Inu Yasha at the theaters, not being able to concentrate on the movie. She shifted in her seat and set her elbow on the arm rest and plopped her head into her hand. Of course, Inu Yasha had to go see some sort of scary movie about people killing each other. She didn’t like those types of movies anyway, and would end up curling into Inu Yasha at one point or another to escape the vision in front of her.
Inu Yasha turned to face her. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked in a whisper. “You’re acting all weird. It’s been like this since that damn cook-out. Did someone in my family up-set you some how?”
Kagome glanced at him. “No. I’ve just been out of it for a while. I don’t know what it is. But I think I’m going to go. I’ve got some stuff I have to do anyway.”
Inu Yasha looked at her weird, knowing she was hiding something but didn’t push it. After all, if Kagome didn’t want to talk about something, she wouldn’t.
Kagome left the theaters and called her friend Rin. After getting her to agree to meet her at a café not to far away from where she was, she hung up and headed towards it to wait for her friend.
After entering the place, she ordered an Italian soda and sat in one of the less noticeable booths and waited for Rin to appear.
When Rin showed up, she grabbed a Mocha Latte and sat down at the booth with Kagome. “Ok then, what’s going on that you had to pull me away from a good dinner and movie?” she asked.
Kagome shrugged. “I just needed to talk to someone besides Inu Yasha. You know how he gets when someone gets into the picture.”
Rin perked up at this. “Someone’s in the picture? Who?”
Kagome shifted in her seat a moment before looking away from Rin. “Well, it’s someone I know Inu Yasha doesn’t like but I don’t know…”
Rin looked at her closely. “It’s either Kouga or his brother. But then again, it could be any guy he doesn’t know. What’s his name?”
“Sesshoumaru. But you can’t tell anyone that I’ve fallen for him!” Kagome quickly said, leaning forward. “If I find out that you told, I will hunt you down.”
Rin smiled brightly and leaned toward her friend. “I’ll tell you a secret. He likes you to. But don’t try to get him to tell you that. That’s just a no-no in his book because you’re a human.”
Kagome looked confused at this statement. “What do you mean he won’t confess that he likes me because I’m human?” she asked.
Rin shrugged. “He’s a renowned human hater. Believes it dilutes the blood. That’s one of the biggest reasons he hates his brother. Didn’t you know that?”
Kagome shook her head and looked down at her drink. How was a relationship, if one could be possible between them, work out if he was a human hater? She was a miko. The worst kind of human for any human-hating demon out there. She didn’t think it was possible.
“Maybe I should just let it go? Who am I kidding? How’s he going to admit he likes me out loud? I don’t want some secret kind of relationship. I’d feel dirty. Hiding the fact that he’s going out with a human? A miko to boot. Seriously, it would never work. I’ll just have to forget that he kissed me. I’ll just have to forget that he likes me. I’ll have to forget the fact that I even ever met him. I just don’t want that kind of a relationship,” Kagome came to a finalization and stood up. “Do you need a ride home or something? I’m parked right around the corner and I need to get lost before the end of Inu Yasha’s movie. I told him I was really busy.”
Rin nodded. “Sure. I could use a ride.”

Kagome lay in her bed thinking of the conversation she had had with Rin. Inu Yasha had been asking her questions as to why his brother would inquire about her and what she had said to make him want to see her again.
Though Rin had admitted that Sesshoumaru liked Kagome and now the proof from Inu Yasha that he liked her, but the fact that he was a human hater held her back.
Yet she wanted to go and see him one more time. To feel his lips pressed against hers. She hadn’t felt that way about any guy in a very long time. Probably ever in fact.
It had been quite a while since her last good nights sleep as well. Her dreams were filled with visions of Sesshoumaru. She’d wake up sweating and breathing heavily, finding herself unable to sleep or recall what the dream had been about.
Sleeping pills didn’t seem to help out either. It just seemed to make it worse, as after she’d wake up, she’d fall back asleep, only to find herself awake less then an hour later.
Inu Yasha told her she had to stop worrying about work, believing that had been the problem. Sango told her to just get away from Inu Yasha for a little bit, knowing that he was curious as to why his brother was taking a slight interest into her. Miroku gave the advice of just going out, finding a willing man (at this he winked her direction, earning a smack from Sango) and fucking his brains out.
Rin on the other hand, knew the problem and watched as Kagome struggled with her increasing attraction towards a very unemotional demon. The fact he was showing interest in said girl as well wasn’t helping her friends cause of forgetting him. The best advice she could give her friend was that in time, he’d lose interest, stop asking about her and then it would get easier for her.
Deciding to finally talk to the only person that could help out her good friend, Rin turned towards the Tashio’s door and knocked, waiting for someone to answer it. She knew that Sesshoumaru was home. She saw him walk in as she was pulling up the driveway. Inu Yasha was busy with Miroku and Shippo playing some stupid video game at Miroku’s place, so she didn’t have to worry about running into him either.
The door swung open and Inu-no stood before Rin. “Hello Rin. I’m afraid that Inu Yasha isn’t home right now. You might want to try Miroku’s or Shippo’s place,” he greeted her.
“Actually, Inu-no, I’m here to see Sesshoumaru if it’s ok.” She smiled sweetly.
Inu-no’s eyes widened but he nodded and let her pass. “I believe he’s up in his room.”
Rin smiled widely at him. “Thanks.” She stopped as she got to the stairs and turned to face the surprised demon once more. “Hey, Inu-no?” she asked.
He looked at her expectantly.
“Nobody really needs to know I was here to see him, if you don’t mind.”
Inu-no nodded and waved her off.
She quickly hurried to his room and knocked on the door. “Sesshoumaru? Can I come in please?” she asked.
She heard his normal reply of ‘hn’ and entered the room quickly, closing the door behind her. She headed over toward the bed and made herself a bit more comfortable then what he would have liked her to do.
“What is it now Rin?” he asked.
Rin looked up at her long time friend and sighed. “Sesshoumaru, you have to either tell Kagome you like her and take her out or forget about her completely. You asking questions about her to Inu Yasha isn’t helping her condition.”
Sesshoumaru looked up from his paper work and to Rin. “What are you talking about? I have heard no news of any condition besides overworking.”
Rin rolled her eyes. “Right. That’s what Inu Yasha thinks. Listen, she likes you and she knows you like her. She also knows you’ve been asking about her lately. Not to mention the fact that you hate humans. You know she’s a miko, right?”
Sesshoumaru’s eyebrow rose. He had no idea of that little fact. It only proved to intrigue him further. “Why must I do this?”
“Sesshoumaru!” Rin yelled. “She’s hardly sleeping anymore. She can’t concentrate on anything. All she can do is talk about you whenever it’s just the two of us. She’s loosing weight, eating less, staying in more, ignoring calls and her friends. Damn it Sesshoumaru! If you like her at all you’d do something about this.”
He nodded. “Then I shall, when I see fit. I am busy and need to get back to work.”
Rin nodded and prayed it would be soon.

The kisses of the sun
~~~~~~~~
Kagome’s head shot straight up. Inu Yasha was talking to her. She hadn’t heard a word of it because she still couldn’t concentrate on anything. It didn’t help that she had been invited over to the house for dinner. She’d come early, trying to prepare herself.
“What was that?” she asked.
Inu Yasha looked at her weirdly. “I said let’s go downstairs. Dinner’s ready. Didn’t you hear my mom?”
Kagome shook her head. “Sorry. I zoned out for a moment.”
Inu Yasha nodded and they headed out of the room and down the stairs. Sesshoumaru wasn’t sitting at the table. A sigh passed her lips in relief. She didn’t think she could take it anymore either way around it.
They talked while they ate, conversing about little things that didn’t matter. Soon dinner was over and Inu Yasha had a call that he had to take. He skirted upstairs, telling Kagome that it wouldn’t take to long and he’d be right back. She nodded and flipped through the channels on the tube.
She hadn’t been sitting there long when the front door opened and some one came into the house. She glanced towards the entrance hall and gasped. It was Sesshoumaru. She thought she had made the clear and that he wasn’t going to be there while she was there.
He turned and faced her. He hadn’t expected her to be there. He hadn’t heard anything. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to go to her. Tell her how he felt. He couldn’t. He just looked at her, longing to be able to just touch her once, or be able to say something to her. But he couldn’t.
Quickly he turned and headed up the stairs.
Sesshoumaru sat in a coffee shop finishing up his papers. He had been there for a while and it was starting to get a bit dark out. People were starting to disperse and only a few people had come in since then. Someone slid into the seat of the booth across from him.
“Leave. I do not wish for company,” he commanded without looking up.
The person shifted but did not leave. Annoyed he glanced up. His eyes widened in surprise with who sat across from him. There sat the woman he had been obsessing over for longer then a month now.
“Hi,” she whispered. “I… I thought you’d … uhm… like some company maybe?”
Sesshoumaru smirked. “And what do I owe this pleasure?”
“Curiosity and an enamored woman. I hope you don’t mind,” she said.
“Not at all,” he replied, his smirk widening slightly.
