Prompt 1: Finger

Her fingers danced along the black and white keys, the playful notes of Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in C major traveling no farther than the walls of the practice room.  Her eyes were closed, and a smile danced upon her lips as she swayed gently with the tune.  She was lost to the music, and perfectly content to stay that way.

Outside the glass door that separated the practice room from the rest of the world, gold eyes gazed inside watching the figure inside. Her back was to the entry, so she had no idea she had an audience.

Prompt 2: Open

He was tempted to open the door, but doing so would interrupt her practice.  He could hear her perfectly fine outside, regardless of the soundproofing of the practice room—youkai senses were rather useful.  What would he even say to her?

He had females, both ningen and youkai, that fawned over him right and left, but the one he had fallen for was not one of his “adoring” fans.  That she was a miko made his yearning all the more strange, for what self-respecting taiyoukai would desire a miko for a potential mate?  He frowned.  Perhaps he was a masochist.

Prompt 3: Face

Finished with her practice for the day, she covered the piano and stood.  Her attention elsewhere, she picked up her bag next to the door and slid the glass to the side—

—only to come face to face with Nishimura Sesshoumaru.  “Se—Sesshoumaru-sempai!” she stuttered.

Sesshoumaru gazed down at the younger girl.  “Kagome-san,” he greeted.

The miko fidgeted.  “I’m done practicing,” she babbled, “You can go in.”

Sesshoumaru continued to stare down at her.  Truthfully he was rather tongue tied now that he stood before the female of his choice.  Where had his ability to speak fled to?  How frustrating!

Prompt 4: Tea

Higurashi Kagome was normally a vivacious, outspoken young woman rarely afflicted by nerves.  Unfortunately for her, this was one of those times.  It did not help that Sesshoumaru stood silently before her, simultaneously continuing his staring contest with her while blocking her way out of the practice room.  “Ano… Sesshoumaru-sempai?”

Twitching as though someone had pinched him in the rump, the inuyoukai blinked before asking, “Would you like to have some tea with me this weekend?”

Kagome blushed at the offer, her mind immediately pondering the ramifications.  Glancing up at her senior, she realized with a start, He’s blushing too!

Prompt 5: Club

Sesshoumaru could not fathom what had caused him to ask her for tea that weekend.  He waited with bated breath for her answer.

“Sure,” she answered softly, glancing up at him through her lashes.

Heaving a sigh of relief, he said, “I’ll meet you at your home at two on Saturday.”

Kagome nodded her agreement before checking her watch; her eyes widened.  “I’m going to be late for archery!  I’m the president of that club too!”  Squeezing past the upperclassman, she paused by the entry to the music room, looking back over her shoulder and flashing him a brilliant smile.

Prompt 6: Poor

Kagome reached the archery field, where the members had already congregated and changed into their uniforms.  Several of them were already practicing their shots.  “Konnichiwa!” she called as she approached.

They chorused back a greeting.  “Kagome-sempai?” Morimoto Kikyou asked, “When will we have our next social outing?”

Kagome sighed.  “We’re poor,” she replied.  “We’d need donations.”

“I could help with that,” Sesshoumaru said as he came out from the locker room, dressed for practice in a white haori and navy hakama.  Quirking an eyebrow at the dumbfounded president, he commented, “You forgot I was in the club too, didn’t you?”

Prompt 7: Boy

Kagome flushed, embarrassed.  “Sort of,” she mumbled.

The taiyoukai snorted softly and retrieved his bow and arrows, taking position at a target located 200 meters away for the youkai students.  Taking aim, he released the arrow, the tip sinking into the red ring.  Another shot sank into the red as well, but had inched closer to the yellow center.

The archery president watched the taiyoukai shoot, her thoughts causing her cheeks to warm but for an entirely different reason than before.  Oh boy, she thought, Down, Kagome!

Still, as she watched him gracefully shoot, she could not help but smile.

Prompt 8: Hero

The yellow of the bull’s eye mocked her, and Kagome was determined to hit it!  Thus far, she had been shooting the black, blue, and occasionally red rings, but had yet to hit yellow.  Her concentration was thoroughly shattered when—

“Higurashi!”

She turned towards the voice, her arrow loosing as she did.  With a stifled scream, she watched as though in slow motion as the arrow flew towards the now panicking Hojo-kun.

The arrow stopped centimeters away from the boy’s chest, restrained by Sesshoumaru.

Kagome sagged in utter relief.  I can’t believe I… Sesshoumaru… he’s my hero… and Hojo’s too!

Prompt 9: Ice

Kagome could say she honestly was not surprised when Hojo fainted after his near death experience.  She had called for an ice pack to place on his forehead to revive him.  Hojo had woken up with the miko’s face in his immediate vision, and he had sighed happily and murmured that he was seeing the face of an angel.  Kagome had blushed and quickly retreated.

Sesshoumaru watched the episode with a small frown; he forced himself to silence his growls.  When Hojo came to thank him, the taiyoukai had regarded him with an icy stare that sent the boy scurrying.

Prompt 10: Cream

Practice was over, and the club members had all changed back into their fuku.  Kagome shook her hair out, temporarily revealing the creamy skin of her neck.

Sesshoumaru’s eyes keenly followed the miko’s movements.  “Kagome-san.”

“Eh?”  She found Sesshoumaru waiting for her.  “Yes?”

“I would like to talk to you about funding,” he said.

Kagome smiled.  “All right.”

They chatted as they walked, she towards home, and he following her like a stray puppy—which was not too far from the truth.  But really, he looked for any reason to spend time with her.  He could not wait until Saturday.
