DREAMS

** Sesshoumaru's Dream **

Long ebony tresses caress his skin as his golden eyes flicker to wakefulness. There is a women lying next to him and he is content. The warmth radiating from her lush, sleeping form fills him with a calm he has never known before. As his golden depths travel her smooth form in search of her face, a face he is sure will be so beautiful that it may hurt just to look upon something so surreal. Just as he is about to look upon this supposed perfection his new found serenity is ripped from him as he finds himself in his bed 'alone'?

**End Dream**

Sesshoumaru woke to find himself wondering for the hundredth time about that silly reoccurring dream. The dream left him with a tugging feeling near where his heart should be and he couldn't stop his hand from rubbing the spot as if it were just a sore muscle. He couldn't understand this strange pang that occurred each time he had the dream.

It peaked his curiosity that he was denied her face over and over again. Why was he even thinking about this trivial dream; about some unknown and probably nonexistent women. It was beneath him to waste even a moment's thought on some dream recurrent or not. He had armies to think of, battles to win, and lands to care for. So he rose and began the days toil.

**Kagome**

Kagome awoke with a sense of longing in her heart that could not be explained in rational terms. Sometimes she went to sleep hoping to never reawaken; knowing her dreams would be her only escape from the death and decay that daylight would bring. Each night she saw him in her dreams. Who, she could not say, she didn't even know if he existed in reality. All she knew was that he brought the peace she knew she could never know in her real life. The calm that came with her dreams soon became a haven of sanity. If she did not find him initially in her sleep, she would awaken with tears in her eyes and a fear of falling back to sleep only to find that her day was repeated in her dreams.

But somehow she always found him and he would kiss her tears away. She dared not try to look upon his face for fear of ending the dream prematurely and falling into wakefulness, or night horrors.

She rose from her bed and dressed for the day in loose beige work pants and a plain white peasant shirt made to move with ease. Though these clothes were of the finest weave money could buy, her mother, Nagai told her over and over that they were ill befitting a woman of her station.

She would say "Why, can't you be more like Kikyou?" or "How will we find you a proper noble husband if you dress like a peasant?"

Kagome was princess and heir to the eastern lands, but she could not stand by in some pristine tower, wearing beautiful kimono's, while her people suffered below, as her sister Kikyou did. Kagome knew that could not be the life of a ruler. Not to mention she did not fancy the thought of being the epitome of societies 'perfect woman'. No, Kagome may be a princess, but she was by no means weak. On the contrary she knew how to work and fight with the best of them and was no stranger to discipline.

She was beautiful and well loved by her people. She had waste length ebony locks that could usually be viewed bound in a single large braid. She had deep blue eyes that seemed to be faceted like blue diamonds. Those that had seen her ferocity in battle came to fear those blue depths, for they had the power to hypnotize any enemy unlucky enough to catch her lethal gaze. Kagome was a serpent youkai and had the deadly slow grace that is often associated with her animal counterpart. Her full pink lips, so perfect that they incited poems from the young warriors sworn to protect her and her people. While her lips may be beautiful, they also beheld a deadliness all their own. She had the power to release powerful toxins from her lips to any who dared try and take advantage of the beauty. She had a thin waste along with hips with just enough curve to define her femininity. Creamy peach colored skin, slightly tanned from her endeavors on the battle field topped off her female perfection.

A round pink jewel resided at her throat. The jewel held great power that only its chosen bearer could tap into. Kagome was the first chosen one in almost 700 years, when the war began. The jewel would destroy any who tried to use it if they were not the chosen. So it simply passed from generation to generation until it found the perfect, pure soul to harness its power. While many craved the jewels power, Kagome hated it. She hated the destruction it brought, hated it because she blamed it for the war and the death of her father and the disappearance of her brother, both casualties to the war.

Legend had it that a fight began when the rulers of the eastern and western lands fought over her great, great, great, great grandmother, Midoriko. She was the original jewel holder and had immense power. The western lord wanted the jewel and her power. The Eastern lord wanted Midoriko's love. She chose that love and her choice began the war of the millennia.
