Kagome poked her head through the crack in door, something the adults were talking about had caught her attention.  “No! I just do not care. The children are far too young for us to be shoving them in and out of relationships already.” Someone let out a loud cough.

She tried to calm her breathing; she could barely make out what her father was saying.  Lost in her confusion, the youngling leaned on the door, pushing it wide open and ultimately falling through the port.

Giggling she jumped up quickly, giving a great bow. “I’m sorry!”

“It is okay child. Was there something you needed?” Toga studied the child. They had made the right choice. “No, nothing…at…all.”  Kagome’s voice trailed off as she looked to everyone present.

Her parents were smiling but their eyes, glassy and sorrow filled, and the Takahashi’s, Kagome had always known them to carry themselves as prideful and as proper as possible, with little room for emotion. Now, however, they looked at her with regret and pity. It was entirely unsettling she was not used to being treated so seriously.

“Momma…” Kagome stepped toward her parents. A loud squeal interrupted her.

“FOUND YOU!”  Inuyasha dived toward Kagome. She screamed and ran behind Toga, peeking out from behind the large man, she found her father holding Inuyasha by his shirt collar.

“Quick Kagome, before I let him go.” Her father was smiling again. That was good.

The child giggled and ran out the door, an angry little boy yelling after her.

“She will grow up to be strong. Her spiritual energy is undeniable as it stands.”

“Yes but what of your son? Will he have her? His distain for humans is prevalent at such a young age, would it be impractical to find him a youkai to court? She will be in danger should his malevolence grow. Our daughter’s life is not worth the potency of your bloodline.”

“To give her to Inuyasha would be a great insult to her potential, giving her to Sesshoumaru will be…good. They will grow over time, to care for one another. However that is far off, for now Kagome must get passed the loss of her closest friend. This arrangement is beneficial to both our families.”
