A/Ns:  Hey guys this is my first ever Fan fiction story and obviously my first Sess/Kag, so please I would really love it if you’d review and let me know if you like it (or hate it), and hopefully I’ll also get some constructive criticism so I could improve. I really want to test my writing skills with this so anything you give me I’ll greatly appreciate ;)

I don’t own Inuyasha or its characters. please enjoy!

                               -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little girl about five years old and small for her age held her mothers hand as she was led through the pre-school building and towards the playground where many children her age were playing eagerly.

“Now Kagome” Mrs. Higurashi told her daughter as she knelt down in front of her “remember you promised to be a big girl today for your first day of school”

The little girl nodded her head with big, sad baby blue eyes, but did not respond as her tears began welding up.

“Oh sweetie, it’s only for a little while. Look around you and see all the other children having fun, soon you’ll be playing too, before you know it you’re going to have lots friends.” Mrs. Higurashi soothed as she hugged her now crying daughter.

“I don’t want go to school” Kagome whimpered “I want to stay home with my baby brother!”

“Any luck?” a deep voice asked from behind them. Kagome’s mother turned and looked up to find her husband standing by the play ground door.

“She doesn’t want to stay” Mrs. Higurashi responded, standing up.

Mr. Higurashi nodded and turned to his daughter “what’s wrong princess, don’t you like your new school? He asked holding out his big hand so kagome could hold it.

“No” she sniffled” I wanna stay with you and mommy.”

Mr. and Mrs. Higurashi shared a wary look. “I know princess, but mommy and I need to go to work…how else can we buy you and Souta toys and nice things?” her father asked.

Kagome’s response was to hug his legs “it’s okay daddy, I don’t want any nice things!” she cried pleadingly.

Mr. Higurashi sighed and looked around the small park in hopes of some inspiration, noticing a sakura tree by the corner he sought out an opportunity.

Taking little Kagome in his arms he carried her towards the pale pink flowered tree, that was ripe and in full bloom.

“Look Kagome sakura flowers” he pointed, watching as the little girl lifted her head from his shoulder and watch with amp attention the beautiful tree and its pink flowers. “Remember what I told you about the sakura?” he asked.

“If you pick the perfect one you can make a wish on it!” she exclaimed with an adorable smile.

“Yes ma’am” her father nodded with a grin “do you want to try and find the best sakura to make a wish?”

“Uh-huh” the little girl responded energetically, already scanning the tree branches for it.

Mr. Higurashi also tried looking for the flower; it didn’t take much longer until he spotted a particularly beautiful one in one of the lower branches. And the wind is perfect as well he thought with a smile.

“Look princess, the perfect sakura” he told kagome pointing at the branch.

“Get it daddy!” his daughter cried with a giggle as she saw the flower and judged that it indeed was perfect.

“Your going to have to help me then, alright Kagome?” he asked, tickling her softly.

“Okay daddy”

Mr. Higurashi then gently held her up towards the tree branch where she could easily grab the soft pink flower.

“Gently, princess” he cautioned as he watched his daughter stretch her little hand, and with the greatest of care pluck it from the tree.

“Got it!” she called as her daddy lowered her back to her previous position against his chest.

“Good girl, now all you have to do is close your eyes and make a wish, and when you’re ready…”

“Let it go into the wind” Kagome finished for him in a concentrating voice as she closed her eyes and tried to focus.

After a small moment Kagome opened her sky colored eyes and kissed the sakura before allowing the small breeze to carry it into its gentle path.

Mr. Higurashi pecked her forehead tenderly as he observed his daughter follow the flower with her gaze until it disappeared into the skies.

“You and momma can go now daddy, ill be ok now” Kagome told him in a gentle serene voice, her eyes still watching the heavens.

“Alright baby, have fun ok” her father responded kissing her head once more before putting her down.

Kagome nodded and ran towards her mother to kiss her goodbye.

“How did you do it?” Mrs. Higurashi asked her husband once Kagome headed towards the slide after saying her goodbyes.

Mr. Higurashi simply smiled as he held her hand to lead her back inside.

Kagome watched as her parents started leaving, she was still sad to see them go, but she knew they would never abandon her, her wish made sure of that, and with that last thought she turned back to the small waiting line for the slide.

Right before she had a chance to move closer to her turn, a small boy pushed her out of the way.

Kagome glared at him as she picked herself up and sat on the ground, but before she had a chance to give the boy her complaints, someone else did it for her.

“Hey look at what you did you big dummy!” it was another voice, loud and defensive. Kagome looked towards its direction to find another boy her age, with lengthy silver almost white hair and fluffy snow colored puppy ears; he owned big pretty golden eyes that glared towards the other boy’s direction, he wore a red polo shirt and khaki shorts with dirty sneakers.

Kagome watched as he walked towards her and held out his hand. “Why did ya let him push ya?” he asked as he helped her stand

“I didn’t” she complained sniffling slightly, trying her best not to cry.

The little boy sighed dramatically as he dragged her towards the swings,

“Here” he said putting his hands on his pocket, searching for something until he found what he was looking for “have a lolly, I took my brother’s while he wasn’t looking when dad gave it to us, you can have it.” He handed her one of the lollipops he held in his hand.

Kagome smiled and took it “thank you” she said sheepishly.

“Yeah, yeah just don’t cry ok” he responded gruffly as he stuck the candy in his mouth.

Kagome nodded and did the same “my name is Kagome, what’s yours?” She asked.

The little boy gave her a big grin before responding “Inuyasha.”

Kagome nodded, she then glanced around the small park with uncertain eyes.

The small boy called Inuyasha took notice of this and asked “are you still scared of that dummy, want me to fight him for ya?” he held up one of his pudgy hands in a fist.

Kagome shook her head no, eyes wide “my daddy say’s fighting doesn’t solve anything.”

Inuyasha stared at her with wide, bewildered eyes, as if what she had said was insulting.

“Naa-uhh!” he argued “fighting makes you strong. And one day I’m going to be super extreme strong!! Like my dad, you’ll see!”

Kagome heaved a small sigh, not wanting to argue with the only kid she currently knew in the playground, she let it drop. Instead she continued scanning the little school yard.

Inuyasha kept watching her, he didn’t know why he bothered with someone who didn’t even pay attention to him, but something about that little girl he couldn’t help but like. “What are ya looking for?” he asked after a small while.

“I dunno…” she confessed turning her attention back to him.

“Don’t ya have any friends?”

Kagome shook her head no, sporting those big sad eyes of hers, Inuyasha stared at her for a while, thinking.

“wanna be my friend?” he finally asked.

Kagome smiled softly “okay…”

Her new friend grinned goofily and grabbed her hand “let’s go play then!” he cried as they ran towards the sand area.

After an hour of laughing and playing on their part, Inuyasha sat up and observed the small sand castle they had tried making, impaling one final stick on the very top he exclaimed “ you know Kagome, I think you and I are going to be the best’s friends ever!”

Kagome smiled brightly and nodded “yeah!” she agreed

And with that both children giggled madly as they set out for more play.
