“Miss Higurashi, it seems that I have a problem.” said Principal Taisho. He was an intimidating man with a full head of long silver hair and piercing yellow eyes. Intimidating, but handsome. Even Kagome had to admit that.
“A problem sir?”
“Yes. You are aware of the campaigns around the worlds that are aimed at making things more…green?”
Kagome nodded her head. “Yes sir I am aware.”
“Good. Good.” said the principal. “The school board has been breathing down my neck to make an effort to contribute to this. So I have decided to appoint you Miss Higurashi to head the campaign. I want you to make an effort and involve the student body. Make this school more eco-friendly. More green. Then maybe I can get the school board off my back.” The last part was more of a mutter to himself and had Kagome stifling a grin. Principal Taisho told everyone what to do but he had little liking for being told what to do.
“So you would like me to do my best to improve the school?”
“Yes.”
“Sir in order to do that there are several things that we will need to have. We need to make the students aware of ways to become more green. And we will need more recycle bins and maybe some compost bins in the cafeteria.”
The principal shook his head. “I should have mentioned this. Unfortunately the school cannot afford to donate any money to this effort. Miss Higurashi you are going to have to fundraise and support the changes on your own.”
“Sir, that is too much for me to do on my own.”
The principal gave Kagome a look of surprise as if he was just realizing what it was that he was asking of her. Kagome could see the exact moment when the light bulb went on in his head; it was so comical that she had to keep herself from laughing. Keeping the straight face was harder than Kagome had thought it would be but she somehow managed.
“Hmm. In that case I think that I should assign another student to help you out. Yes. Yes. Miss Higurashi, you shall be the head of a going green committee. I will send a student to you later this week. He will help you out.”
“Thank you.” Kagome smiled warmly at her principal and quickly took her leave. She didn’t want to stick around with the principal for any longer should he get some idea to give her even more work to do. Like she didn’t have enough to do already.
Kagome sighed deeply. As the president of the student council she had more than enough work going on at the moment. Now she had to make the school “go green” and she had to raise the funds to do it. Kagome could feel the beginnings of a migraine as she slowly walked back to class. She hoped that whoever it was that the principal assigned to help her was going to actually do work.
~*~
It had been two days since the principal had stuck Kagome with the whole “going green” campaign. She had spent those two days busier than she usually was. Among her duties as president she had to come up with fundraising ideas and ways to make the students in the school interested; make them want to be more eco-friendly and recycle. Most kids just didn’t care.
The more Kagome read on the subject the more that she realized how important it was. She truly wanted to make a difference and to let other students see how they could help to make a difference too.
Kagome looked down at the order form she had gotten Principal Taisho’s signature on. It was an order form for T-shirts. These shirts were Kagome’s first step in helping to raise money for their campaign. Half of the profits from the shirts were going to pay the actual cost of the shirts and the other half of the profits were going to help purchase recycle bins and whatnot.
Kagome smiled the design for the shirt was a little cartoonish: green with a large earth smiling. She knew it was a little hokey but the bonus with the shirt was that the student body was going to be able to wear the shirt instead of the normal uniform shirt until the end of the school year. It was an option that Kagome felt that the students would enjoy.
She also had plans to challenge the classes to make posters to post around the school. The class with the best poster was going to win a pizza party. All the posters would be posted around the school for all to see.
“Miss Higurashi?”
Kagome turned around to see the principal standing at the entrance to the student council room. At his side was none other than Sesshomaru Taisho. Kagome bit down on her tongue. Sesshomaru Taisho was a delinquent. He did nothing but aggravate her, skipping class, pulling pranks, and anything else he could get away with. If that wasn’t bad enough, he was also Principal Taisho’s eldest son. He couldn’t be serious. He really couldn’t be serious.
“Principal Taisho.” She managed with a smile looking away from the resident bad boy of the school.
“I see you are hard at work. How is the green campaign going?”
“Slow sir. Really slow.” Kagome answered honestly.
“Good, good.” murmured the principal under his breath. It was obvious that he wasn’t actually interested in her answer. “I have brought you a student to help you out.” Principal Taisho motioned to his son.
Kagome bit back a groan. She couldn’t work with him. She really couldn’t. She shook her head but wasn’t surprised when Principal Taisho wasn’t even looking at her. He was talking a mile a minute about how he was sure that this was going to be a perfect match and that they would work well together.
“Principal—“ Kagome tried, only to be cut off with a wave of the principal’s hand.
“I know that everything will be fine. I shall speak with you later.” Without so much as another word, the principal left Kagome alone with Sesshomaru.
“I see you are happy to see me too Kagome.” drawled Sesshomaru sarcastically. He was leaning casually against the jamb of the doorway.
“Go to hell Taisho!”
“Temper. Temper.”
Kagome bit down on her lip again. She was surprised that she wasn’t drawing blood from keeping her temper inside. He just got under her skin. He was always so calm and cold. He never raised his voice and he was, infuriatingly so, always in control of himself. He was also shockingly handsome. His silvery hair was long and silky. He had piercing yellow eyes that had always somewhat unnerved her.
“Surprising. I see you have managed to learn to control that impressive temper of yours.”
“I see you are still a good for nothing punk.”
His uniform was pristine and Kagome knew that he did that on purpose. He had a tendency to get into fights. He never lost them and he always came out of those fights looking immaculate. He also was looking at her in that way that always unnerved her: direct eye contact
“This is not going to work. Leave! I will just tell your father to assign me a different troublemaker.”
“Do that then. I never wanted to be here in the first place. If my…father had not brought me here I never would have come.”
“Meaning that you are as eager to be as far from me as I am from you.”
“Meaning that I do not care in the slightest about what it is that you are up to now.”
Sesshomaru moved away from the door and stalked into the room. He was all fluid motion mixed with a high dose of arrogance.
“Leave then!” Kagome motioned to the door.
“No.” Sesshomaru came right up to Kagome and made sure that she had to tilt her head up to meet his gaze.
“Why not? It’s not like you want to be here and helping me any more than I want you to be.”
“I have my reasons.”
“You have your reasons?”
Sesshomaru nodded slowly.
“FINE!” Kagome couldn’t help her temper from exploding with that one word.
What was she going to do with him? She had to do something to keep him away from her. She had to just get rid of him. But what could she do to keep him from annoying the living hell out of her? Her gaze landed on a piece of paper that was on her desk. Perfect!
“Sesshomaru, I know just want you can do.”
Satisfaction gleamed in her eyes. Sesshomaru just looked uninterested.

“Attention all students. Our ‘Going Green’ T-shirts are now on sale in front of the cafeteria. Just $10 each.” Kagome’s recorded voice boomed out over the sound system of the school.
Kagome smiled at each of the student who came up to her. She was wearing one of the green shirts she was selling to show to student body just what they would be buying. She was proud of the students each one bought a shirt brought in the funds she needed.
“Oh…” moaned a young girl to her friend. “He is just too hot.”
Kagome’s head swung around to look at who it was the girl was talking about and saw none other than Sesshomaru. He was wearing the shirt like she had told him to but he had thrown on that leather monstrosity of a jacket of his. He had had that thing for years. He had bought it to annoy his father. Even she had to admit he was hot. He was really hot.
“That is not proper uniform Taisho.” said Kagome. Sesshomaru ignored her. Kagome held back the glare she wanted to give to him. “Did you at least pick up rest of the shirts?”
“Yes.”
Kagome counted to ten. She did not see the boxes with the shirts anywhere. So where had he put them? “Where are they?” she finally asked.
Sesshomaru looked over his shoulder. Coming in the door was the toad faced Jaken carrying three boxes. Jaken was Sesshomaru’s lackey, he was always following Sesshomaru around with a look of utter worship on his face.
“I told you to get those, not Jaken!” yelled Kagome. She was irritated.
Sesshomaru shrugged. “They are here, I do not see a difference.”
Kagome turned away and rolled her eyes. “Where is Inuyasha?” she asked suddenly. Inuyasha was his younger brother. Neither brother got along well with the other. Inuyasha was artistic and had designed the shirts and had a friend of his making them. She had sent Sesshomaru to get the shirts from his brother and ask him to come and help them with selling them.
Sesshomaru turned away from her. He did not look at her as he answered her. “Inuyasha is selling some of the shirts in front of the school. Rin is helping him.”
Kagome eyed Sesshomaru suspiciously. “What did you do to him?”
She really didn’t like Sesshomaru, but that didn’t stop her from being friends with Inuyasha. He was actually her best friend.
“I drove him over here.”
Kagome didn’t believe him for a moment. “Eri!”
“Yes Kagome?” Eri was working the table with Kagome to sell the shirts. “Can you manage here on your own for a little bit. I need to go and check on Inuyasha. Sesshomaru is coming with me.”
Eri nodded her head. “Yeah I think I can manage.”
“Good. You!” Kagome pointed a finger at Sesshomaru. “Come with me.”

“$10. Help to buy recycle bins for the school.” called Rin.
“I’ll take one!” said a guy. He was grinning from ear to ear. “I won’t look like Inuyasha though will I?”
“Not at all.” smiled Rin. She took the money from the guy and handed over a t-shirt in his size.
“Hey Inuyasha nice heels!” called Koga. He paid Rin ten bucks and took the shirt she was offering him. “Let me know if you find a date to the dance!” he called out loudly as he and his buddies walked away laughing their heads off.
Kagome got there just as Koga left and what she saw had her biting her tongue to keep herself from laughing. She felt guilty that she wanted to laugh at her friend’s expense. Instead she turned on Sesshomaru.
“How dare you!”
“What makes you think that I did this?” asked Sesshomaru.
Kagome pointed to Inuyasha. “That’s why I know you did this!”
Inuyasha was tied to the flag pole. He was wearing one of the shirts only it was one of the girl’s size and too small for his muscular figure. He was also in a pink miniskirt and pink heels. His hair had been separated into pigtails and he was wearing make up on his face. On top of all that he was gagged so he couldn’t protest.
Sesshomaru looked casually at his brother. “I do not see what is so wrong with that. Inuyasha must finally be admitting his true gender.”
“SESSHOMARU!”
Sesshomaru shrugged and walked away from Kagome and his brother. Kagome stomped after him. She was going to make him pay for this.

“All entries for the posters are due at the end of the week. Please give them to your class representative. Winners of the pizza party will be announced Friday during the end of the day announcements.” Kagome’s recorded voice announced to the school.
Kagome was walking down the halls. She was leading one of the new recycle bins for the cafeteria. Despite her better judgement, she had let Sesshomaru take a couple of the new bins and told him where to place them in the school. She really hoped that he actually listened to her this time. He hadn’t been satisfied with what he had done to Inuyasha with the flag pole. No, he had to do more things to make her life more miserable.
She had had him collect some of the finished posters from the classes earlier this week. What did he do with them? He left them under the garbage cans in the student council room. If she hadn’t spotted them when she did, Kagome was afraid they would have been ruined.
He was just utterly irresponsible. Kagome wanted to tear her hair out. Why did Principal Taisho make her work with him?
“Go long!”
Kagome walked into the cafeteria just in time to witness Koga running to catch a football. He was in mid-air and headed right for her. Then she was out of the way and Koga had landed on their brand new recycle bin.
“NO!” Kagome struggled against the arms that were holding her. The arms let her go and Kagome almost went flying herself but managed to stay balanced. “KOGA!”
Koga lifted his prone body up from where he had landed and looked at Kagome. He knew he was in trouble. If looks could kill he would be dead and buried.
“H-hey Kagome.” said Koga weakly.
Kagome stood over Koga. She clenched her teeth. “You will…work for the student council until you pay back what that recycle bin cost.” Koga opened his mouth to say something, only to be cut off by Kagome. “You are going to leave right now.” Kagome pointed to the door.
“It was an accident.”
“I said go Koga. Now.” Koga was quick to listen to her this time. He skeddadled out of the cafeteria as quickly as he could.
Kagome turned her gaze to the remaining students and just as wisely they all followed Koga out of the room.
Kagome sagged with relief when she was left alone. She took a few steps over to the damaged recycle bin and wanted to cry. That bin had been expensive.
“You could at least say thank you.” said a voice behind her.
Kagome knew that voice. She wasn’t alone. He had to have been the one to save her from colliding with Koga. Dammit Sesshomaru!
“What no witty response?” Sesshomaru asked sarcastically.
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“I think thank you would suffice.”
Kagome turned to look at him. “Thank you ever so much.” Her voice dripped with sarcasm.
Sesshomaru gave her a rare smirk.
“Just because I said thank you doesn’t me that you get to gloat over it. Besides I am still angry at you for what you did to the posters!”
“Posters?”
“The ones you left under the garbage can.”
Sesshomaru didn’t answer her. Kagome got frustrated enough just looking at him.
“You know what? Just leave. I never wanted your help with this anyways.”
“Too bad. I have been committed to this project and I will not be told to stop by you. As I told you before, I have my reasons for this.”
“Reasons, reasons, reasons! You never give me a straight answer!”
“Nor will I.”
Kagome glared at Sesshomaru before leaving the cafeteria and Sesshomaru behind.
~*~
“You did a fine job Kagome.” praised Principal Taisho. “A fine job.”
“Thank you.” Kagome said stiffly. She was sitting beside Sesshomaru and refused to look at him.
“You both did well.”
“I am pleased with how the campaign is going sir. I think that the new recycle and compost bins have made a large difference with the school already. It will just take a few more years of diligence and this will be common in the school.”
Principal Taisho nodded. “There is one thing I want to ask the both of you before you leave.”
“Yes sir?”
“What happened to Inuyasha?”
Both of them knew what the principal was referring to. Inuyasha had been avoiding Sesshomaru with a vengeance ever since the flag pole incident.
“Sesshomaru decided to prank Inuyasha and put him in a skirt.”
“I did not think he would enjoy it!” protested Sesshomaru.
“Then why did you put him in it?”
“Because you forced me to be in his presence.”
“Puh-lease!”
“Now now children. I think we can work this out.”
Principal Taisho was grinning as he watched the two of them. Did they even realize just how similar they really were? He didn’t think so. Maybe he should put them on more projects together. In his head, Principal Taisho began to hum the lyrics to Matchmaker.
