Disclaimer: Inuyasha, not mine. Money off it, negative.
Note: This is a little something I hope is appropriate for Father’s Day.
A Moment with Inupapa
Inuyasha sat in the courtyard, away from the squealing females who were excited about Kagome’s pregnancy, what people called a baby shower. He couldn’t believe that Sesshomaru was going to be a father. As he sat, he couldn’t help but wonder about his own father. What was he really like? Was he as fierce as Myoga said? The flea stated the hanyou looked just like him. He was a bit jealous of Sesshomaru, not because his own inevitable fatherhood, but because he actually knew their father while he was just a baby when he died.
The only thing that was left of his father was the Tetsusaiga. However, it wasn’t enough. The hanyou only had bits and pieces about his father from what his mother told him before she died. That still wasn’t enough. He had to wonder; was their father proud of them both for surpassing him and defeating the great evil that was Naraku? Was he proud of them actually becoming the siblings they were meant to be? Of this he wasn’t sure.
All of thoughts caused Inuyasha to become drowsy and doze off where he was. He soon fell asleep. Little did he know was that Tetsusaiga began to glow with a soft light.
Sesshomaru was in his private chambers away from the baby shower, or in this case, puppy shower. He couldn’t stand to be around those females any longer than he had to. The taiyoukai hoped that his father was proud of him and Inuyasha. Despite their differences, they managed to get along eventually. Underneath his cold exterior, he actually missed his father. He wanted to answer that question he posed him in his last moments of life if he had someone to protect. Now he did; a miko turned Lady of the Western Lands, a human ward and a young kitsune. He could also count Inuyasha, especially during his moment of humanity.
As he pondered this, Sesshomaru started to get drowsy and soon fall asleep. He wasn’t aware of Tenseiga glowing faintly at his side.
DREAM SEQUENCE
Inuyasha was the first to wake up in a strange tea room. He turned to see Sesshomaru stirring beside him. Both hanyou and taiyoukai sat up and sensed a powerful yet familiar aura in the room. They both saw their father dressed in a loose kimono drinking tea. There were two empty sitting cushions with tea already prepared for them.
“Ah, I see you’ve both come.” He beckoned them both a little closer. “Come, I’m sure you both have questions.”
Both tentatively sat at their places. Their father looked at both his sons and smiled. “From the looks of things, you’re wondering what I think of all that’s transpired and I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of both of you; you, Sesshomaru, because you have finally reconciled with Inuyasha and have someone to protect. You’ve actually overcame your prejudices against humans. So, you’ve mated with a miko? Most interesting. I must be the first to congratulate you on your pups.”
He then turned to Inuyasha, who was sipping on his tea, not daring to look him in the eye. “As for you, Inuyasha, I am proud of you as well. You’ve also overcome your differences with Sesshomaru and the struggles of being a hanyou. Your mother would also be proud of you. I’m sure that dragon Ryukotsusei is whining from the netherworld about how he was defeated by one of my line, and a hanyou no less. I expect you to find a mate who would accept as you are. I’m sorry about the former Shikon Miko’s passing. Just know that she is finally at peace.” This brought tears to Inuyasha’s eyes as he looked up at his sire.
The tea room then started to waver as both siblings finished their tea along with their father. The Great Dog General sighed. “It looks our time together is over. Remember that I will always be with you both. This is not goodbye.” Then, a bright light surrounded the both of them, forcing them to wake up.
Inuyasha shot up from his sleeping place, not having any idea that he dozed off. He was surprised by the scent of his own tears. ‘What just happened?’ The hanyou looked down at his Tetsusaiga and held it up, sheath and all. Inuyasha then cradled it to his chest and smiled. ‘Thanks, Tousan.’ With that, he headed to his room and got ready for bed.
Sesshomaru’s eyes fluttered open and felt a lone tear fall down his cheek. He held up his Tenseiga and cradled it to his chest, something he would never have done before. The taiyoukai was relieved that the shower was over and that the servants were cleaning up. He looked up to see his pregnant mate sliding the door open. “Sesshomaru, are you ok? Were you crying?”
“It’s nothing, koi. Just a father-son talk, thanks to Tenseiga.”
“I see. I’m tired from all the excitement. Time to take a bath.” Kagome went to the hot spring and bathed.
Sesshomaru sighed, looking outside at the full moon. ‘I thank you, Chichi-ue.’ With that, Sesshomaru placed Tenseiga on a raised platform, slid the doors shut, and went to sleep.
That’s it. Gee, I almost got choked up as I wrote this. Happy Father’s Day. Later. ^_^
