Enjoy and thank you for reading!
Sesshoumaru starred at the tanto in the palm of his hand for a long time, contemplating what could be done with such an object and why he sought it out in the first place. When he first came to Bokuseno, he hadn't been prepared for the youkai to provide not only a solution but the tool he would need. Leaves rustled anxiously above him and he glanced up at the tree.
“Are you sure this is what you want?” The elder youkai asked.
His eyes traveled back down to the object, but instead all he saw was the fiery eyes of the young miko. The miko that should be his. Instead, the miko was dead, killed by his brothers claws. The pain gripped his heart again as he realized he would never see her again.
He had been too late to save her with his father's fang. InuYasha was far out of his mind, killing off friend and foe. The monk, slayer, neko, and kitsnue all dead. None of his brother's pack survived when the hanyou finally turned demon never to return to his formal state.
He, Sesshoumaru, had been the one to find them. Then he had tracked down his brother and ended his worthless life. The taint on his family grew with the hanyou, but no more. Desperately, Sesshomaru had sought out Bokuseno, not really believing the tree youkai would have an answer.
But he did.
Nodding in reply, Sesshomaru grasped the tanto tightly and stabbed it deeply into his chest. Immediately his vision began to blur as blood poured thickly out of the wound.
“Now! I didn't realize you were so impatient pup...”
Sesshoumaru growled in reply as he was being dragged downward. Bokuseno's voice rolled over him again.
“Do not fight it, just follow where it leads you Sesshoumaru.”
…
Sesshoumaru woke to his beast in control. Red eyes flashed with anger in the dark as he tried to understand where he was and why the stench of his own blood was thick in the air. Slowly, he regained control and red was replaced with gold. Glancing downwards he yanked the tanto out of his chest and put it away.
He quieted his heartbeat as he tried to listen, if it worked, if he was right, he should hear her now. But it remained silent. Slinking forward he edged towards the village of Edo. It was silent and calm there. Not what he was expecting. The youkai should be ravaging the area, chasing her to him.
Sighing he ran his claws through his silver locks and looked around some more. Apparently the event hadn't occurred yet. To be sure of this he decided to visit InuYasha.
As the giant sacred tree came into view, so did InuYasha's silver hair, blowing in the wind. Yes, he had been corrected. InuYasha was still sealed to the tree, so Kagome hadn't made it to this time period yet. He walked until he was mere inches from his brother's face.
“It's your fault,”he stated. “This one would not be forced to do this if you hadn't failed in your duties. If you hadn't failed to understand your limitations as a hanyou.”
He glared at InuYasha a moment longer, as if daring him to respond, to defend himself. He continued to sleep. Sesshoumaru only turned when he knew the elderly miko had him in her sight. She hobbled slowly through the forest. He cocked his head to the side, waiting to hear what she had to say.
Keade looked at him for a moment before glancing to InuYasha and back again. She noticed the similarities between the two. Her hands went to her bow as she asked, accusingly, “Are ye here to free the InuYasha?”
“No.”
Keade waited patiently for him to explain himself. Oddly enough, Sesshoumaru felt uneasy under her gaze. As if he were a young pup waiting to be reprimanded. He remained silent and still, waiting for her to make the next move as he had no intent on saying anything more than what was necessary. He was a fool for coming back in time, just like her.
She hobbled closer still until she was right beneath the Goshinboku, peering up at him.
“Then what is your purpose here, youkai? Are ye not a relative of the InuYasha?”
“My purpose here is of no concern of yours miko.”
As he passed her, Keade was overcome with a vision. She dropped to one knee as the images flashed. The two youkai she was sure were related passed before her minds eye. But then, she came into view. Smiling in away Keade had never seen before, true happiness radiating off of her.
“Kikyo...”
Sesshomaru paused as he heard the name pass from Keade's lips. He was certain the past he was now changing was affecting the miko. Infuriated that his Kagome was getting confused with that creepy miko he decided to correct Keade.
“Kagome, not Kikyo. Do not be so foolish to confuse them again.”
Confused, Keade looked up at him slowly. Beads of perspiration rolled down her face and she asked him weakly, “Kagome? But who-”
She watched Sesshoumaru leave, feeling his anger wash over her. Utterly confused, she took a deep breath to calm her weary body and stood. She starred at InuYasha, deep in thought before she turned and hurried back to the village. She had no idea what was going on, but damn it all if she wasn't going to figure it out!
