Twelve days of Christmas by VampireGoddess12Xx

On the first day of christmas my true love gave to me...

Chapter One

It was the Christmas season; the weather was cold and slightly windy but the sky was clear and all the stars evident. It was beautiful.  Something Kagome had always loved to indulge in, star gazing.  In her time the city lights blocked out such beauty but here, here they were clear as day.  The tiny sky diamonds sparkled in abundance and Kagome gazed at them with contentment.  She was on her way to the well for a one day trip home.

The well drew nearer and the stars seemingly clearer and Kagome just continued to stare.  She was so entranced by their beauty she failed to notice the watchful eyes hidden in the trees.  The eyes followed her every movement with something akin curiosity.  They dared not venture out of their hiding place and kept their aura hidden.  If the star-struck girl did not look in their direction they would never be found and they knew they wouldn’t be found.

Kagome came to halt inches from the well.  With a sigh and a saddened smile she looked away from the beauty that had kept her entranced so long.  She readied herself to lose the beauties in her trek across time but something else caught her eye.  A small package placed with care upon the lip of the well.  Carefully she inspected it, there was no name or sender.  Did she perhaps have a secret admirer? Or maybe… Inuyasha was coming around?  With that thought she held the small package close to her heart and leapt in well.  She would open the gift when she returned home.

The eyes watched her as she disappeared.  They took note of the smile that graced her lips at the discovery of his small gift.  He knew she did not know of whom the gift had been sent by.  Soon enough she would though, soon enough.  With that the eyes disappeared into the night but they did not drift far as they, like the others in the village below, waited for the girls return too.

Kagome sighed as the comfort of her warm soft bed washed over her.  One thing she always loved in her time, her bed.  The feudal era’s mats on the floor and her sleeping bag upon the ground left her achy after the nights.  Her bed, however, was soft plush and comfortable.  It assured her a good nights rest the little times she got to rest in it.

From her bed her eyes drifted to the desk.  Beside the medium sized wooden workspace laid her large backpack and atop the desk sat the package.  Kagome looked at it curiously confused and interested in what it could be.  She rose from her soft bed, quietly her feet padded on the floor as they approached the gift.  She picked it up and inspected it once more then very carefully she pealed away at the colored wrappings.

She now stood with an unopened box in her hand.  The box was wooden with beautiful floral carving.  Trailing her fingers all across the box she was mesmerized.  Slowly she let her hand lift the lid from the base, hinges on the back kept the two separate wood pieces together.  Inside, the box was draped with an enthralling gold colored silk.  There, upon the silk, was a beautiful bracelet.  Kagome was left breathless staring at the amazing gift.

She gently lifted it from its resting place and dressed her wrist with its beauty.  She nearly felt unworthy of such a gift.  Tiny blue diamonds adorned the bracelet it the shapes of stars and little crescent moons.  The gift was so astonishing, beautiful, simply amazing; the girl never put two and two together.

She laid back in the comfort of her bed with the bracelet still upon her wrist.  With a smile of her face and happiness in her heart she gazed at the beauty bestowed upon her someone secret.  Someone she was sure cared deeply for her.  And she stared at that bracelet until she drifted into the most peaceful sleep she had ever had.
