So I know I have other stories... I'm not procrastinating, but I saw this prompt and wanted to do something for it. This is for the July prompt Sunshine. This may be a few chapters, I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys this. There is a Trigger Warning, it doesn't go deep into detail, but it does mention it. Chapter 1: Summer Meadows Golden eyes softened as a soft melody whispered against elfin ears. Making his way towards the voice, Sesshomaru spotted the Miko in the clearing surrounded by Rin and her kit asleep. He watched as she continued her song, running her fingers through their hair. No doubt the children tired themselves out running and playing in the summer air filled meadow. Her song was in a different language, but it was still nice nonetheless. Watching her intently for a while, Sesshomaru finally stepped out of the clearing, his usual mask on his face. "What is it that you sing, Miko?" Peaceful blue eyes met gold and a bright smile met his cold mask of indifference. Kagome looked back down to the children. "It's a song my father taught my mother so I could get to sleep when I was little. I can teach it to you if you'd like?" If Sesshomaru were any other demon. He would have rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Hn. If it pleases you." He wasn't sure why he said that. The miko had been travelling with his pack for sometime now, stating that she no longer wished to go back to Inuyasha. He could smell what that lowly half breed had done to her and saw the state she was in afterwards, clothes shredded, blood leaking in places that shouldn't have been. Bruises had once littered her face, arms, and thighs. He had gathered her up after covering her with his hankimono and took her to a hot spring, helping her wash away the terrible deeds that had occurred. The entire time he had helped her, she had been quiet and reserved, tears had long since dried on her swollen face and the blood had started to crust from drying as well. There really was no way of telling how long she had been there, the smell of her anguish and pain overrode any other scents. Snapping out of the memory, Sesshomaru studied the girl… no woman in front of him. She had been with his pack for several months now and the first few months were the hardest. He had taken up holding her at night and it eventually became a ritual after the kids were asleep. Plus, though he'd never admit it to anyone else, he had started caring for her. Focusing on the bright smile that could light up the world like the sun, he settled down next to her, careful not to jostle the children and rouse them from their slumber. Kagome watched him for a second, but decided against voicing what she thought. She was slowly starting to fall for him, and how could she not? He was kind to her and the kids and he made sure everyone was protected and taken care of. The jewel had been completed a year ago and she had made the wish, coming to realize that she was stuck on this side of the well. Her and Inuyasha had tried to make it work, but it seemed like after the 4 years that she'd spent putting the jewel back together, they weren't meant to be, and that was obvious by what he had done. "It would please me very much." Her smile never faltered and she thought of the translation in japanese before she started to sing again. "Anata wa watashi no hikarida. Watashi no hitotsudake no hikarida. Sora ga haiiro no toki, anata wa watashi o shiawaseni shimasu. Anata wa shin'ainaru koto o kesshite shiranaideshou, watashi ga dore dake anata o aishite iru ka. Watashi no nikkÅ o ubawanaide kudasai." Sesshomaru snapped his head towards her, eyes wide. He had heard that song before, his mother had sung it to her father when she found out about the infidelity with Izayoi. He wondered if Kagome knew that the song was meant for lovers as well. He studied Kagome closely and noticed she had her face towards the children, but her endless blue eyes were glancing towards him. "Hn." He allowed his mask to slip into a pleasant and soft smile only reserved for those close to him, and he classified Kagome as close to him. He slid closer to her and wound his arms around her waist, nuzzling his nose into her hair, taking in her calming honey and lavender scent with the undertones of thunderstorms due to her reiki. "You don't know what you do to me, woman." He growled softly, just enough for her to hear. He pulled her closer to his body, along with the pups and he sighed in contentment and relaxed. Kagome felt the blush that crept up her neck, and relaxed against him. She loved the tingle his touch left on her body and if she were any other woman, she knew that she'd be dead long before now. She was grateful to him and she hoped that she would be able to show him one day. Kagome stopped breathing when a familiar aura surrounded them, one she didn't want to deal with again, ever. Tensing, she turned her head towards Sesshomaru, blue eyes wide with fear. Feeling his body tense, he pulled her and the kids closer to him, making sure to keep them close. He had his mask back in place as he watched across the meadow quietly. He knew his brother was going to confront them eventually, but he had hoped to give Kagome more time to try and recover from what the whelp did to her. Sesshomaru had been super vigilant against keeping his brother away, going as far as to meet up with him to beat him down for a few days, making sure to travel as far as possible with Kagome, Rin, and Shippo. Jaken was at the western shiro and Ah-Un carried Rin and Shippo. Seeing red flash out from the trees, tears came to Kagome’s eyes, and Sesshomaru cursed his brother silently. He had vowed to himself that Kagome wouldn’t cry again in his care, and so far he had kept to his word. After all, what would others think of him if he didn’t honor his word? Taking in the sight of his brother, he noted that Inuyasha had smelt like several other women, and he scowled further. “Oi, wench! It’s time to stop being around this bastard and come back to the village.” Sesshomaru started to say something, however Kagome beat him to it. “Osuwari.” Sesshomaru noticed that her voice was eerily calm and as he focused on the woman in his arms, he realized that her power was bubbling right below her skin. Her anger was palpable and he almost felt sorry for Inuyasha and the wrath he had incurred in the small fiery woman… Almost. “How dare you!” Kagome gently moved the pups out of her lap and settled them in Sesshomaru’s lap, smiling gently, her rage being betrayed by her eyes, before turning in anger towards Inuyasha. Walking up to the Inuyasha sized hole now in the ground, she glowered at him. “Did you think that I would go back with you after what you did to me, you filthy mutt?” “K-Kagome?” Inuyasha finally sat up and looked at her from the hole, confusion flitting through his eyes. “What, you don’t remember raping me and leaving me beaten and alone to die?! Sesshomaru found me after hours of me laying in the forest wishing I would die because of what you did. I’ve found a place in Sesshomaru’s pack, and I’m happy. Happier than I have been in months. I-” “Sesshomaru is nothing but a bastard. We’re leaving now!” “No, Inuyasha.” A different set of golden eyes widened as dog-ears twitched in irritation. He was going to get her back and get her away from Sesshomaru, whether she liked it or not. She was his, and he would make sure the bitch knew her place. “What did you say bitch?!” His voice snapped in anger as he pulled Tetsusaiga. Sesshomaru slid the children off his lap quickly and stood, but before he could make it to stand in front of Kagome, he felt her power wash over him in warmth as a barrier went around him and the children, who were just starting to stir from their nap. Sesshomaru watched what was happening outside of the barrier and his eyes widened slightly as he saw Kagome stalking towards Inuyasha in anger, her power pulsing with underlying danger. “Let’s go, wench!” “I said no.” Kagome let her power wash over Inuyasha in waves. Screams reach Sesshomaru and he let a sinister grin grace his face as he watched Inuyasha’s hair slowly turn black as his demon blood was purified. Kagome watched dispassionately as she purified Inuyasha. “Leave me alone, I don’t want to see your face again, or next time I won’t be nice.” Kagome turned and walked towards the barrier, waving her hand and watching it flicker and disappear. She walked over to Sesshomaru and looked up at him as the children ran up to her. Smiling down at them, she hugged them tightly. Looking back up at golden eyes, Kagome stood back up and smiled even more brightly. “Let’s go home, Sesshomaru.” Sesshomaru felt his lips curl slightly into a soft smile, nuzzled into Kagome's hair, and wrapped his arms around her and the kids, forming his cloud under them all, taking off into the sky towards the western lands with Au-Un trailing behind.
