"It's been too long my love." The silver shadow whispered.
"Only for we who do know the torment of being apart. I have indeed missed you, koi." The young girl whispered to the shadow as she embraced them.
The young woman did not know that her known protector had followed her. He scented the deceit in her voice as she claimed to have a sudden need to 'bathe'. Inuyasha had decided to follow, noticed she taken a detour from the hot spring path, and went deeper into the forest. He heard the words so sweetly whispered to her lover. Inuyasha's heart wretched. He couldn't possible blame her for finding comfort in another's arm, but who would she turn to?
Inuyasha walked closer to the embracing couple hoping to catch a glimpse of this miraculous Romeo. Whom would his best friend finally find herself in? As he drew closer, all he could see was more shadow. Even the scent was hazy and untraceable.
Inuyasha walked closer only to see Kagome walked out of the shadows. She was wearing a strange gown. He hadn't seen her change, but it was obvious who ever her lover was he was wealthy. Kagome was wearing a medieval gown that was of a purely continental design and nothing like the kimonos he saw around him daily.
The gown had flowing bell sleeves and skirt of white while the chest portion was red in an oddly familiar color pattern. The corset that laced up the front had yellow strings and boosted up her bust line to a ridiculous level. Even Inuyasha had to remind himself that she was now taken. Her feet were bare as the skirt scraped across the ground and her beautiful black locks flowed down her back. She walked out of the shadows appearing as a goddess of the light.
"Hello Inuyasha." Kagome spoke softly.
"How long?" Inuyasha asked bluntly.
"For almost a year and six months I have been his consort and for six months I have been his mate. I have been with him for nearly two years." Kagome answered gently.
"How did you keep it secret for so long?" Inuyasha asked in shocked horror.
"You never bothered to look, little brother." The silver shadow crept out of the darkness and wrapped around the young woman's waist.
Inuyasha's world came crashing down as Kagome looked at Sesshomaru with tender eyes as she lovingly stroked his striped cheek. Equally horrifying was the fact that Sesshomaru was leaning into her touch and a purr like growl of contentment came from him.
"Of all the people in this world and from your world, why him?" Inuyasha whispered betrayed.
"He saw all that could be and I saw all I should be. We found ourselves in each other. I didn't want to tell you for I knew you would react negatively. I'm sorry for the hurt this may cause, but it will change nothing. Too long we have been in the shadows like hunted animals; it is time for our love to shine in the sun." Kagome smiled strongly.
"I do not apologize for taking what is rightfully mine, but I do wish you peace little brother." Sesshomaru began to glide backwards pulling Kagome in tow.
"Where are you goin?" Inuyasha called out.
"Home with my beloved. The threat is gone and we have no reason to stay apart now that you are aware. I hope you find happiness, Inuyasha. As I have." Kagome glance up at Sesshomaru as he leaned in kiss her lightly as they sank deeper into the forest.
Inuyasha watched as they sank into the shadows and all he caught was a glimpse of silver before he knew they were gone to the Castle of West and gone forever from his life.
