In Time

I disclaim everything that Rumiko Takahashi owns; sadly she owns Inuyasha and all the wonderful characters that go to it *pouts*… I make no profit from any of my stories…

Warnings: Character death, and lemons; if you are under 18 please find a more suitable story for your age.

A/N: This is the second story I have posted here so please do be kind. If you find any errors please let me know and I will do my best to get them corrected. I have no beta or anything so give me time to get things edited and uploaded. I’m kinda new to writing so I hope you like it, please review.

This story picks up 200 years after Kagome comes back through the well after being stuck in her time for the 3 years. In my telling; the Shikon disappeared but left residual power built up from the youkai and Midoriko herself stuck inside, to Kagome. These powers granted/cursed Kagome with an immortal life span and extra healing abilities, otherwise she is the same ol Kagome that had last came through the well.

She had not mated nor married Inuyasha but they had been a couple for 150 years before his untimely demise. His reason for not marking her as his was her safety, if others seen that she was attached to him in any way he feared they would seek to harm her. They never had children, not sure if it was him or her but they got past that dark time together and took in orphans here and there. He had been out hunting for their dinner when he had come under attack by a large group of youkai hating monks that had been passing through his forest to Edo. She had been the first one to greet them into their village when she heard them gossiping that they killed a half breed that had been killing the game in the surrounding woods. She had wanted so badly to reap revenge on them but Songo and Miroku’s decedents had held her back and advised the monks leave and never return.

They had to search for his body based on the directions one monk had provided; it had been a horrid sight for Kagome. He had attempted to ignore them it seemed; he hadn’t put up a fight, almost as if he hadn’t thought they would attack him from behind. They subdued him with his back turned to them; that was the only part of his body that had wards on it. She knew they suppressed his demon blood because he was laying there on the ground in his human form; one clean blow to his head must have finished him off in his weakened state.

The ceremony they held for him had been good, so many people had shown up to pay their respects. Koga and Ayame had even showed up with their pack. Everyone that had known Inuyasha and her had appeared and said their final goodbyes; well all but Sesshomaru that is, he hadn’t made an appearance sense Rin’s death. The whole thing had been so surreal to Kagome, she knew she would feel the loss soon enough but for now she grasped onto her anger at the monks and the appreciation for her friends. Kagome had kept Inuyasha’s fang and fire rat robes, though she had no real use for tessaiga she was well aware of the use she could receive from his robes. The subjugation beads, though the power of the command had been removed long ago, were left on his neck to have something of her in the afterlife.

She traveled then, packing all she felt she needed; Kagome began traveling around to different villages. Never staying longer than 7 years because once the villagers noticed that their revered Miko-Sama never aged they became uncomfortable with her. The first village she had stayed in actually called her a dark miko and attempted to burn her along with her hut down. The normal stay would be around 5years before she would once again move on. Her abilities with herbs and healing were unmatched and so she would teach her apprentices as much as she could before having to move on. She had mastered combat as well, thanks to Sango and Inuyasha. Being able to use many different weapons had its advantages while one traveled alone.

50 years of wandering from village to village had worn on Kagome; she wished to settle down somewhere where she would be left alone. Knowing that the west would likely be the place to hunker down and hide for at least a few decades she headed that direction. Having no fear of Sesshomaru finding her, actually she hoped he would find her. During Rin’s life in the village with her and Kaede, Sesshomaru became a bit of a friend. He never talked much but he was a great listener, she grew to respect him and his silence. He cared for Rin all the way to the end, even after she had taken a husband and had children he had still made sure she would want for nothing.

“Wow Kai! Look at that, I think we’re in Sesshomaru’s lands now.” Kagome spoke to the little foal she had rescued on her trip towards the west. It was standing over its dead dame as she spotted it; the poor mare had gotten hit with an arrow to her lung. Kagome figured that a hunter thought she was a deer from the distance; she was a light brown color. Not being able to simply leave the thing there to be eaten by scavengers in front of her poor foal she had buried it. It took her almost a whole day just to dig a hole big enough, then she had to use a tree branch and a big rock as a pry to get her in the hole. She didn’t even want to remember the process of burying her. Since then the foal followed her around and after a few days she named him Kai. He was a silver color with a single black mark in the shape of a lightning strike on his left hindquarter.
